My background is in broadcast television. I know, tough gig, right? My first and last corporate job was working as a broadcast television producer in Voice of America's Latin American Division. For five years, I produced a thirty minute show every day called El Mundo al Día, and on Fridays, a show called Foro Interamericano. The final product was delivered live on multiple platforms, including radio, television, and the web to 66.7 million weekly viewers throughout the Americas. In other words, I was the person sitting in the control room next to the director, speaking (or screaming) into the anchor's ear to 'swing' to another camera, or 'AHHHH, WE LOST CONNECTION WITH THE REMOTE' (if you know, you know).

Yes, this job did have a lot of responsibility and pressure, but it did shape me into the entrepreneur that I am today. I can handle high pressure situations and brainstorm to find solutions to crises. Nevertheless, I did burn out. I left my position at Voice of America in 2021 in pursuit for something that filled my soul. That's where my photography & videography journey began.

I was born and raised in Maryland, but I currently live in Washington,
D.C. When I am not working, you can probably find me hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and walking dogs around my neighborhood in between. I often visit my parents' house on Maryland's Eastern Shore, where I fish for Rockfish with my father, and sit outside by the fire with neighbors. I love to travel, exercise at Orange Theory, and meditate.

I try to live in the present, and enjoy each moment as it comes. I believe each person is on their own unique journey; therefore, I like to meet people where they are and embrace them for their individualistic qualities. Let me capture your true self for you through my lens!

My name is Mary Kate Benitez. Let's get to know each other!
I love photography and mindfulness, so why not combine the two? Mindfulness is defined as "awareness that arises through paying attention to the present moment, non-judgementally.” Photography and videography are one of the only ways to stop time in its tracks. It is a way to capture our present moment, and preserve it for a lifetime.

A little more personal.
